Convert DXF splines to polylines
Replace the splines in a DXF with polylines that older machines and simpler post-processors can actually read. Choose how finely each curve is divided, preview the result, and export a new DXF.
Free · no sign-up · the file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
Many cutting controllers and CAM tools choke on NURBS splines. DXFTools finds every SPLINE entity in the file and tessellates it into a polyline, so the curve becomes a series of straight segments any machine can follow. You control the number of segments per spline — more for smoother curves, fewer for smaller files — and preview the original against the converted geometry before exporting.
The export keeps your other geometry as-is and swaps only the splines for polylines. Note that non-drawable content such as text, blocks and dimensions isn't carried into the converted file — the output is the cut geometry.
It runs in your browser with nothing uploaded, so you can convert proprietary drawings privately and for free, without AutoCAD.
What you get
- Tessellates SPLINE entities into polylines
- Adjustable smoothness (segments per curve)
- Live preview of original vs. converted geometry
- Exports a new DXF with splines replaced
- Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded
Frequently asked questions
- Why convert splines to polylines?
- Many machine controllers and CAM tools can't read NURBS splines. Converting them to polylines turns each curve into straight segments any machine can follow.
- Can I control how smooth the result is?
- Yes. You set the number of segments each spline is divided into — more segments give smoother curves, fewer give a smaller file.
- Is everything from the original file kept?
- Drawable geometry is kept and the splines are replaced with polylines. Non-drawable content such as text, blocks and dimensions is not included in the converted file.
- Do you upload or store my DXF file?
- No. The file is read and processed entirely in your browser using your device's own resources. It is never sent to a server or stored anywhere.
